Single Entry Visa

Single Entry Visa for Indonesia: Who is it for and What Are the Benefits?

If you’re planning an extended stay in Indonesia whether for reconnecting with family, attending a conference, or exploring the country the Single Entry Visa is your ideal solution, allowing you to stay without the need for frequent exits and re-entry.

Who is the Single Entry Visa for?

The Single Entry Visa is perfect for foreigners who plan to stay in Indonesia for up to 6 months without leaving the country during that time. It’s ideal for:

  • Family visits
  • Tourism
  • Attending conferences
  • Exploring Indonesia without the hassle of exiting and re-entering the country

However, it is strictly for social visits. This means you are not allowed to engage in any business activities or work during your stay. If you are planning to work full-time, you will need a work visa (KITAS).

Benefits of the Single Entry Visa

The Single Entry Visa offers several benefits for those planning to stay in Indonesia for an extended period:

  • Stay for up to 6 months: The visa allows for a 60-day stay, with the option to extend it in 30-day increments up to a total of 6 months.
  • No need to exit: Unlike some other visa types, you won’t need to leave the country to renew your visa during your stay.
  • Ideal for social visits: If your purpose is tourism, family visits, or attending events, this visa is designed for you.

However, please remember that the Single Entry Visa cannot be used for business activities. If you intend to work or conduct business, you will need a Multiple Entry Visa or KITAS.

How to Extend the Single Entry Visa
  • Extension process: To extend your Single Entry Visa, you will need to visit the local immigration office in Indonesia. Extensions are allowed in 30-day increments, and you can extend up to four times, giving you a total of 6 months stay.
  • Important note: If you leave Indonesia while on a Single Entry Visa, your visa will become invalid, and you’ll need to apply for a new visa.
Tips and Commonly Asked Questions

1. How do I extend the Single Entry Visa?

  • You can extend your visa at the local immigration office in Indonesia. Extensions are done in 30-day increments, and you can extend the visa up to four times.

2. I don’t have a sponsor, can I still apply?

  • Don’t worry! If you don’t have a sponsor, we can help provide one for you to ensure your visa application process is smooth and straightforward.

3. Should I get a Social Visa or Visa on Arrival (VOA) and extend it?

  • If you plan to stay in Indonesia for more than 60 days, getting a Social Visa is usually more economical. With a Visa on Arrival (VOA), you can only extend it once, giving you a maximum stay of 60 days. A Social Visa, on the other hand, allows multiple extensions and can give you a total of up to 6 months in the country.
